I used 2 colors of yarn, purple and pearl gray and this method demonstrated by KnittingsbyJudy, but I wrapped a lot more yarn around the cardboard to make it thicker. Fasten off, leaving a tail for weaving in.
Row 28: Ch 1, sc in same sc, sc2tog, *sc in next sc, sc2tog* 5 times, sl st in beg sc. Row 27: Ch 1, sc in same sc and next sc, sc2tog, *sc in next 2 scs, sc2tog* 5times, sl st in beg sc. Row 26: Ch 1, sc in same sc and next 2 scs, sc2tog, *sc in next 3 scs, sc2tog* 5times, sl st in beg sc. Row 25: Ch 1, sc in same sc and next 3 scs, sc2tog, *sc in next 4 scs, sc2tog* 5times, sl st in beg sc.
